Introducing Green Choice Shipping
We spend a lot of time underground and in the backcountry. Most of you do too. The places that draw us out exist because someone, somewhere, decided they were worth keeping intact. That mindset doesn't stop at the trailhead. It applies to how we run the business.
Today we're rolling out Green Choice as a shipping option at checkout.

What it is
Green Choice routes your order through the lowest-emissions ground service available for your address. Same price as standard shipping. The only tradeoff is time — it'll usually take a day or two longer to reach you.

There is no upcharge, no offset math, no checkout pop-up asking you to round up. It's just slower truck on a fuller route.

Why slower matters
A package that ships ground on a consolidated route puts out a fraction of the emissions of one that flies. Air freight is the worst offender per pound, and most expedited services include a flight leg whether the label says so or not. Choosing ground over air is the single biggest emissions decision in any shipment, and it's almost always the cheapest one too.

Most of what we ship — ropes, harnesses, lights, packs, hardware — isn't time-critical. If you're prepping for a trip three weeks out, an extra day in transit costs you nothing. Picking Green Choice in that situation is the easiest environmental decision you'll make all month.

When you shouldn't use it
If you actually need it fast, don't use Green Choice. We're not going to guilt you out of expedited shipping when you've got a flight on Friday and your harness just failed inspection. Standard and expedited options are still right there at checkout. Same goes if it's a big purchase you're excited about — no shame in wanting your new rope or light on the doorstep tomorrow.

The point isn't to make every shipment slower. The point is to give you the option when speed doesn't matter — and let the default behavior of the freight system stop being the only choice.

Final Thought
Caves, canyons, and climbing areas don't get protected by accident. They get protected by people who notice them, use them carefully, and put weight behind keeping them that way. Shipping logistics is a small piece of that. But it's a piece we control, and now you do too.

Pick Green Choice when the calendar lets you. Don't when it doesn't. We just wanted to give you the choice.
